9828 Workshop of Giovanni Pozzo (Pozzi) (1670 – 1752)
A large and fine Italian oval ivory relief, ‘Dancing Nymphs’ after the design of Guglielmo della Porta, showing ten nymphs dancing to the music of attendants in a mountainous landscape with buildings in the distance. Carved from a single piece of ivory, no damage, several drilled holes to the edges presumably for mounting.
